BHP FFA John Deere Technician Training Program - Gator Wars
A 4 person BHP FFA team recently competed in the upstate John Deere technician training contest called Gator Wars. The contest was held at Dobbs Equipment in Simpsonville. The contest consisted of electrical and hydraulic blueprint reading and troubleshooting, sparkplug installation, engine coolant testing proper fill ratio, and engine parts identification. The team placed 1st in the contest and will compete at the state contest in June. Team members included Adam Clark, Troy Crawford, Tyler Harris, and McCray Pruitt. A big congratulations goes out to these team members.

We're also thrilled to welcome Mr. DuPre Keys as a newly elected board member.

Pictured below are winning robots Kippy created by Kallie Jenkins. and L.A.H. 1000 created by Liam Hagins. The school winners each received a Family Movie Prize Pack.

Students at Belton Elementary participated in Vocabulary Day on Oct 31. Students were encouraged to dress up as a new vocabulary word. The classroom winners participated in a parade for the entire school where their costume and word was shared. The purpose is for the students to learn new vocabulary words to use in their writing!

ASD2 School Board Approved Calendar for the 2025-2026 School Year

While attending the National FFA Convention, the BHP FFA Forestry CDE team was recognized as a GOLD-level team. John Hopkins was recognized as a GOLD individual scorer, while Olivia Bowen, Garrett Lowe, and Harley Mitchell were recognized as SILVER scoring individuals. Their official placing was 12TH IN THE NATION!
This competition challenges contestants in multiple areas of forest science and management, including: tree species identification, timber measurements, tree volume estimation, forest business calculations, map interpretation, chainsaw maintenance, timber management, forest and land measurement calculations, and general forestry knowledge.
Congratulations to the BHP FFA Forestry Team!

The BHP FFA Agricultural Mechanics Team competed in the National Agricultural Mechanics Contest in Indianapolis this past week.
The contest consisted of all the state-winning teams from across the nation. Sections of the contest included concrete construction, electric motor wiring, surveying, diesel engine valve train repair, equipment operation and maintenance, welding, and a general knowledge test.
Team members included: Cameron Ashley, Dawson Knight, Nicholas Davis, and Carver Peek. The team placed 6th overall and each member received a Gold individual ranking.
The team was also the highest-scoring team in the nation for the diesel engine section. Carver Peek was also recognized as the 12th highest-scoring individual at the contest and received a $400 scholarship.
A big congratulations goes out to the team members and their advisor, Mr. Ben Woody, for their hard work and 6th place finish at the national contest.
