School Resource Officer Day
We had a great visit from SC Therapy dogs as they brought in their BARK program to BES. BARK is a program where volunteers come in with their dogs and spend some time reading with a student. We had three volunteers come in with their dogs and had three 20 minute sessions. The kids absolutely loved it!

BMS would like to recognize Ms. Jan Everett. Ms. Everett joined our family in January. She works so hard to ensure our building is clean and she always has a smile on her face. Our building smells clean and fresh each morning when our students arrive. She truly is the sunshine we needed in our BMS family and we are so thankful for her! BMS loves Ms. Everett!

Staff Spotlight
TIMKEN has been working with Belton-Honea Path High School to "JumpStart" these students' opportunities after graduation. TIMKEN has been a part of the local community for over 50 years and is one of the largest employers in the Honea Path/Belton area, with over 300+ manufacturing associates. With customers in automotive, aerospace, and renewable energy, the demand for these products continues to climb. These 9 students were selected to participate in the Timken Jumpstart Program and met on Friday, January 27th to speak individually with the JumpStart Program panel. This included the Plant manager, HR Managers and several operation leaders from the plant. Students met to learn more about the jumpstart program, opportunities available to them after graduation and to hear advice from past BHP graduates now employed at TIMKEN. Our hope for the program is that students will get comfortable in these employment situations, get informed about excellent job opportunities and begin setting goals before graduation. Our goal is for every student to have a plan for their future before they leave BHP High School. and have a plan for their future. These students will continue to collaborate with the leadership team over the next few months to get them ready for employment. The next step will be on March 3rd where these 9 students will take part in mock interviews with TIMKEN leadership representatives. Thank you to Mrs. Tonya Locke, Career Development Facilitator, for organizing this opportunity. Jose Acevedo, Nicholas Ballard, Alex Branyon, Blade Busby, Gage Clinedist, Nakayia Cruell, Joseph Fowler, Korben Miller, and Samuel Robidas Timken BHP Graduates serving on the Jumpstart Panel: Ray Cunningham-2003, Casey Cook-1995, Patrick Martin- 1990, Justin Posey-2002

Former HPE student, Jared Morris, volunteered to teach a mini lesson in our after school program. He read a book with the students and then led them in an art activity. At HPE, we love to see our students becoming great community leaders!
