January marks the annual observance of School Board Recognition Month celebrating the nearly 600 school board members serving South Carolina public schools. The 2024 theme “In It to Win It” serves as a crucial reminder of the responsibility to persistently advocate for those they represent and acknowledge the significant efforts already put forth.
As part of School Board Recognition Month, board members participated in an official signing of the South Carolina School Board Member Ethical Principles. By signing the principles, school board members publicly vowed to represent their local communities’ voice and vision for their public schools.

The 3rd Annual Bear Shuffle was a huge success! We had twelve local businesses on campus to share more about their companies and the numerous opportunities available to our students. More than 150 seniors, along with 25 rising freshmen, had the privilege to join us for this event.
Marshall Primary School students and staff celebrated the 100th day of school on Wednesday, January 17th. One of the ways MPS celebrated was by dressing as if they were 100 years old or having the number 100 represented in their outfit.

All after school programs have been canceled for Friday, January 12 due to inclement weather that is scheduled to occur during this time. We will continue to have a normal school schedule on this date, however, the after school programs will not take place.

We are reminiscing about Marshal Primary School's Second Grade and Lower Montessori students performing hits from, "Crazy Carols" in December! They also led us in singing some carols we all know and love. We are so proud of these MPS performers!
At HPE, Mr. Kennedy's 4th grade class loved watching his interactive demonstration of electricity! Then, they got to try lighting the light bulbs by themselves.

Tomorrow, Tuesday, January 9th will be an eLearning day for our students. The National Weather Advisory anticipates extremely high winds from 10:00 AM to 10:00 PM throughout the day tomorrow. The SC Department of Transportation strongly advises that school buses should not be on the road in conditions in which sustained winds exceed 30 mph or wind gusts which exceed 40 mph. As always the safety of our students and staff is of the upmost importance.
Your child's teacher(s) will communicate your child's eLearning assignments for tomorrow.
Wednesday, January 10th, will be a normal instruction day for our schools.
