National FFA Forestry Team - 12th Overall in the Nation! Team members include John Hopkins - Gold Individual, Oliva Bown - Silver Individual, Garrett Lowe - Silver Individual, and Harley Mitchell - Silver Individual.
National Agricultural Mechanics Team - 6th Overall in the Nation and Highest Scoring Team in the Nation for Diesel Engine Valve Train Repair Section! Team members include Cameron Ashley - Gold Individual, Dawson Knight - Gold Individual, Nicholas Davis - Gold Individual, and Caver Peek - Gold Individual and 12th Highest Scoring Individual in the Nation.
Students in Mrs. Shaw's fourth grade class at Wright Elementary are participating in READBowl, a global reading competition that has teams vying to be crowned the World Champions of Reading! This honor is awarded to the team that reads for the most minutes from January 2 - February 8. Mrs. Shaw's class just completed the first quarter of competition (Week 1) and they have already read 18,350 minutes at school and at home! For their hard work, students received special "locker room" messages from three time Super Bowl champion, Julian Edelman, and Dogman author, Dav Pilkey. Congratulations to Mr. Greg Tysl for fifteen years of dedication to school board service. Mr. Tysl has been instrumental in guiding our district. The South Carolina School Boards Association recognized this outstanding contribution with a lapel pin and certificate.
The month of January marks the annual observance of School Board Recognition Month — a time to salute the nearly 600 school board members serving South Carolina public schools. Districts around the state participate in School Board Recognition Month to honor the contributions and service of school board trustees. The theme, "All In" serves as a reminder to school board members of their responsibility to give their all on behalf of those they represent. District Two Board members were presented with various tokens of appreciation from the district and schools.
As part of School Board Recognition Month, board members participated in an official signing of the South Carolina School Board Member Ethical Principles. By signing the principles, school board members publicly vowed to represent their local communities’ voice and vision for their public schools. The document will be displayed in the Anderson Two Board Room to serve as a public symbolic gesture by your board to uphold these effective governance principles.
This year, 18 students from BHP were selected for the SC All-State Chorus. Out of 312 students auditioning as soprano, Jaylen Martin tied with 4 others for 9th in the state. Out of 448 altos auditioning, Raylee Wilson was #2 in the state. Will Sumner was #8 out of 206 tenors and Cooper Phillips tied with 2 others for the #9 tenor.

Belton Elementary School students enjoyed a play performed by PorkChop Productions! The play was the story of a fisherman and his wife. The fisherman and his wife had to learn the hard way when they caught a fish who promised to grant them three wishes, if they would set him free. The story "addresses the themes of greed, keeping your word and being happy with the things you have...and not dwelling on the things you don't."

Anderson School District Two will operate on a 2-hour delay on Thursday, January 23 due to icy conditions on several secondary roads from the snow and freezing temperatures.
Safety is our top priority and this later start time will allow students, parents, and staff to travel safely during daylight hours.

Anderson School District Two will host six community Town Hall Meetings to discuss a unified middle school. The meetings will include a presentation and participants will have an opportunity to ask questions. At each location, we will have a 10:00 AM and 6:00 PM meeting. Due to the winter weather projected by the National Weather Service, including the possibility of snow and ice in our area, Anderson Two will move to an eLearning day on Friday, January 10. Additionally, all after-school activities and athletic events scheduled for Friday and Saturday are canceled.
As a reminder, your child’s teacher will provide details on their eLearning assignments. They will have 5 days to complete their work.

Mrs. Childs’ 3rd graders at HPE had a great time reading “The Wild Robot”. They celebrated finishing the book by learning to code the story with Ozobot robots. Thanks to Mrs. Taylor for showing us a cool STEM project!
